The new version is a dual channel system, using significantly better cabling from the battery than the bikes harness.  It provides a significant boost to the light output.  It still retains all existing features of the previous model as well as being plug and play, but also includes a few additions.  For example, if your low beam bulb dies at night, the driver will immediately enable your highbeam at half power - so you're not left in the dark (you can still switch to full power high beam as normal).

 

We will have several plug'n'play models available to suit a range of bikes using H3, H7, H9 and H11 bulbs.  The 675/1050 will be supported with the same plug set as generation 2.

The Twinlight Driver powers the highbeam at a partial power setting or with modulating brightness. 

 

Specifically designed for motorbikes, it makes you more conspicuous and can give your bike the appearance of two working headlights.

 

Motorbikes use the low beam light during the daylight to be more conspicuous.  However the modern designs adhere to strict regulations which restrict light seen by oncoming traffic.  It's a very harsh cutoff between where the light projects, and where is does not.  This makes for a really poor daylight running light!  Subsequently, later model bikes don't have the same conspicuous level on the roads.  Hence the common phrase "just didn't see the motorbike coming" heard at accident scenes where the car driver turned in front of the motorbike rider.  This scenario is what instigated the design of the Twinlight Driver, more visibility.

 

 

The Twinlight Driver2 works with a filament type bulb in your highbeam.  It is not compatible with a HID highbeam, however you can still use a HID on the low beam bulb.  This is quite a good combination, as the highbeam H9 bulb is already a high performance bulb.  Having the Twinlight Driver running the highbeam will make you a lot more noticeable, as unlike the low beam, it is projected where other drivers can see it.

Daylight Running Light (DRL) Modes

 

Using the high beam light at a reduced power level provides an effective DRL, as it DOES project the light where you want it.  At the same time, at a reduced brightness it does not cause the oncoming traffic glare or discomfort - just like other daylight running lights.  The light sensor provides the ability to have one mode during the day and another at night, although the night mode should be set to off.

Headlight Modulator Modes

 

The Headlight Modulator Modes provide a range of modulating effects.  These are legal to use during daylight in Australia, US and Canada.  You can chose from a range of these modes, with choices from a very discrete flicker through the maximum the regulations permit.  Options have been built into the design to allow you to toggle the modulator on/off, giving you the discretion on when you need to be noticed and when you wish to be courteous and turn it off. While the full blown maximum modulation gets the most attention, there is a range of levels to chose from.  The discrete modes (some only just noticeable) were built in for those preferring just that - a discrete mode for to catch the eye of traffic looking to turn in front of you. There is also a set of lower brightness modulator modes. The light sensor provides the ability to have one mode during the day and another at night, although the night mode should be set to off.

  • Light sensor - enables different mode selections for daylight and low light conditions.
  • High Beam Flashing - Even if the Twinlight Driver is active, when you flash the passing beam it does so with full on/off effect.
  • Delayed on, enables on engine start - On/off configurable.
  • Delayed on, 12 seconds - On/off configurable.
  • Delayed on, Instant on with passing button flash.
  • Configurable settings.  Turn ignition on and flash using the passing button 1 to 10 times.  Configuration guide gives specific details.
  • Courtesy options can be enabled, so you can toggle on/off while riding.

Specifications:

 

  • Run cool solid state technology, rated up to 100W.  (Standard H9 bulb is only 65W.  Your bikes wiring might not suit a higher wattage bulb).
  • Highbeam must be a filament type bulb.  Lowbeam can be either filament or HID.
  • Electronic re-settable fuse, self monitored protection.
  • Electronics encapsulated, waterproof design.
  • Light sensor has a digital filter, uses double threshold (hysteresis loop) to determine light/dark and a shade filter to ensure reliable operation with shadows and street lighting.
